Simple, fast, transparent:Time credit payout processvia SAP UI5 app

In order to accelerate and simplify internal processes, we were commissioned by BLS to develop and implement an intuitive and user-friendly SAP UI5 app for the “time credit payout” process.

THE CHALLENGES

A key requirement for the app development was to harmonize the business requirements with the Fiori design guidelines. Intuitive user guidance was also required: it should be as easy as possible for employees to pay out existing time credits.

ABOUT BLS

BLS belongs with its 420 kilometers long rail network to one of Switzerland’s biggest transportation companies. With its 3,000 employees BLS connects people with train, bus, boat, car train and freight transport across the country.

OUR APPROACH

In the first step, a mockup of the future app was created using BUILD (www.build.me). This was then further refined in close collaboration with the specialist department until all the requirements for the functionality and layout met BLS's wishes. Based on the agreed mockup, the SAP UI5 app and the corresponding SAP workflow were then developed.

 

Operation is simple and clear: An employee starts the app. A list of already submitted entries opens. By selecting an existing entry, all details about the request can be viewed. A new application can be created with the + button. This moves the list area to the left.

 

After submission, the request also appears in the list of submitted requests on the left. An SAP workflow starts in the background, which automatically addresses the request to the direct superior. The manager can open the request via SAP MyInbox and either approve or reject it.

 

In case of rejection, the process is terminated. If approved, the process is forwarded to the HD Service Center. In certain cases, additional manual activities are carried out here. Subsequently, the applicant's details are posted via IT0416 – Time Quota Compensation.

 

During the entire duration of the process, various information mails are sent to the persons or departments involved.

THE RESULT

The new SAP UI5 app ensures faster processes for requesting, checking, and posting time credit and also guarantees targeted information and greater transparency. BLS employees are very happy to use the app because of its ease of use – so it makes their everyday work a little easier for everyone involved in the process.
