As part of a comprehensive SAP S/4HANA and cloud transformation and with the transition to operational use, the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) gained significant strategic importance at a large federal organization.

A clear need arose for the operational organization: a common understanding of the role, structure, and interaction of SAP BTP had to be created. The goal was to consolidate the fundamentals, present interrelationships transparently, and provide a realistic outlook on the future use of cloud technologies in the operational and project environment.

We designed and moderated two consecutive BTP Overview workshops, specifically tailored to the needs of the operational organization, and presented SAP BTP in a clear and practical manner. To do this, we used concrete examples from everyday project and operational work.

Both half-day workshops attracted over 50 participants each. The workshops were conducted in a hybrid format, on-site and via live broadcast, and were also made available as on-demand recordings.

In the BTP Overview 1 workshop, we focused on the basics and classification. We positioned SAP BTP within the overall SAP portfolio and explained key concepts, organizational models, roles, authorizations, licenses, regions, and governance.

The BTP Overview 2 workshop delved deeper into technical and organizational topics. We covered identity and connectivity concepts, development in the context of SAP Clean Core, typical development landscapes, and operational and governance approaches.

Finally, we provided a structured overview of advanced topics and prioritized them together with the participants. These form the basis for targeted in-depth sessions and sustainable knowledge building.
