Inventory made easy with mobile scanning!

At a large electricity company in Switzerland, inventory scanning was to be modernized and simplified for users. The tablets in use were to be able to continue to be used. A completely new solution with an SAP Fiori app was to be implemented for this purpose.

At a large electricity company in Switzerland, inventory scanning was to be modernized and simplified for users. The tablets in use were to be able to continue to be used. A completely new solution with an SAP Fiori app was to be implemented for this purpose.
THE SOLUTION
We developed a new scanning solution based on the latest SAP technologies available for Fiori app development. We used the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) for the business logic in the SAP S/4HANA backend and the Fiori Flexible Programming Model for the front end. We were able to implement the solution within a few days and it is already being used successfully.
On the one hand, it offers users new, state-of-the-art user interfaces and can therefore be used “out of the box” on all end devices (PC, tablets, cell phones). On the other hand, the scanner solution is based entirely on the SAP standard process for stocktaking, which ensures that subsequent processing can be carried out using the SAP standard tools.
Thanks to the use of the latest development models, we were able to significantly reduce the implementation effort and noticeably increase user acceptance through new concepts such as draft handling, which temporarily stores user entries and thus prevents data loss.
