“BKW FUTURE ERP“ WITH S/4HANA AND SAP FIORI –MODERN BUSINESS APPLICATION FOR MORE EFFICACY
In the scope of the project “futureERP“ the BKW, one of the top 5 energy suppliers in Switzerland, we supported to create a new, innovative and efficient ERP-platform which is consequently aiming for challenges of the digital age. We contributed to this successful project by modernizing and relaunching numerous business applications in the subproject “integration management”.
THE CHALLENGES
The task of the project “futureERP” was comprehensive: with the “Greenfield” approach, the BKW wanted to make its entire SAP ERP fit for future. The aim was to replace the historically developed 14 years old SAP system with all its processes to a completely new system architecture in order to meet the complex requirements of the digitalization. The project area “integration management” included substantial IT and business processes like finances, sourcing, HCM, distribution and reporting. We were responsible for conception, realization and implementation of SAP Fiori applications on the basis of the new system architecture as well as the already existing business processes.
The project area of "integration management" encompassed essential IT and business processes, including finance, procurement, HCM, sales, and reporting. Our responsibility was to design, implement, and launch SAP Fiori applications that aligned with the new system architecture and the established business processes.

OUR APPROACH
The “Greenfield” approach enables an implementation model, that orientates itself strongly toward SAP Fiori reference implementation. In the scope of the realization, it was our task to establish and to configure the technical infrastructure for the distinctive business areas with, among others, the fronted server (AS ABAP), the SAP gateways and the SAP backend in order to implement SAP Fiori launchpads. In addition to the transaction-bases Fiori-Apps, we could utilize the analytical Fiori-Apps and Fiori-Factsheets with S/4 HANA (1511) due to the futureERP architecture.
In order to have better user information and interaction coverage, the Fiori standard applications were additionally expanded with different functional extensions and were undergoing a light theming (logo and world of colors). Therefore, we supported the development and launch of ESS/MSS Self Service Scenarios and also migrated classic ABAP reports with the help of ABAP OO and the modern HANA in-memory development pattern to S/4HANA.

THE RESULT
“futureERP“ is a lighthouse project within the BKW, which affects all central units of the organization and equips the enterprise perfectly for the future.
We supervised the subproject “integration management”, which is a substantial component. More than 200 analytical and transactional Fiori applications as well as Fiori Factsheets were put in action. Users are granted access to relevant information via the enterprise search function, too. New technological possibilities create significant added value for users regarding the process security and work efficacy.
