Future day at inpeek –exciting look behind the IT scenes
Once again this year, the second Thursday in November was National Future Day – an opportunity for us to give young people interesting and entertaining insights into the day-to-day work of a service provider in the IT sector.
A total of seven students between the ages of 12 and 14 were eager to participate and were guided through the day’s program by various inpeek employees. After a warm welcome and a brief introduction to the company, everything revolved around current topics such as Internet security and programming.
The students had a lot of fun when the tried-and-tested Lego was used. With the help of the building blocks, we sensitized them to the topic of Internet security using a practical example from Minecraft. They also had the opportunity to practice simple programming with a Lego robot.
Two of the students even revealed that they already had relevant programming experience (JAVA). We took the opportunity to code real applications on the laptop with these two “technology freaks”. Both were so enthusiastic that they would have liked to start an apprenticeship at inpeek right away.
The conclusion of a colorful and informative day was positive throughout. Everyone involved put their heart and soul into it and gave the children an understanding of our field of activity in a tangible and likeable way. At the end of the day, we were able to say goodbye to many smiling faces with great impressions.
One of our young participants even stated that he would rather come back to us tomorrow than go to school. 😉
About the Future Day
As its name suggests, Future Day aims to shape the future. Girls and boys switch sides; as a result, they get to know gender-atypical fields of work and areas of life and gain experience for life. In this way, horizons open up. Girls and boys gain the courage and self-confidence to take their future into their own hands, free from rigid gender stereotypes.
The National Future Day thus promotes equality between women and men in career choices and life planning at an early stage. It is a cooperative project between schools, the working world and parents.
